that twenty four to forty eight hours is an unacceptable level of downtime for an Internet Connection, and will be leaving this service.

That is Bulldog, by the way. Since they were bought by Pipex/Whoever their reliability has gone to pot and their prices are too high.

That's ridiculous. I've never had downtime that lasted more than 3-4 hours, except for when my modem got fried and they had to replace it.

I've had a few times when a previous net connection was down for over 24 hours, but that was years ago

I've had a downtime of 24 hours once-but then, the choice of ISPs around here sucks anyway...

It is all a long story regarding different companies and the ridiculous infrastructure we have here.

To cut it short, though, they clearly think I have no choice, but I clearly do, even if does mean paying and waiting for another line.

I've already left the biggest one we have, and the only other alternative is so bad I don't even know one person who has something

My condolences, but they do need to know that there _is_ always an alternative. The cheeky so-and-sos.

I know people slate them, but BT have been awesome to me
Ordinal has

had some appalling times dealing with other people's BT, though. Really very appalling.

I had an outage longer than that last year, but given we had a hurricane, I can make allowances. :-)
Sylvie says

we have a BT business account but are 3 miles from the exchange so it *still* goes out most days, and **still** slows down every evening
Sylvie thinks

the problem is that ultimately, don't they pretty much all use the BT infrastructure -so no matter how good the customer service, it's BT...
