Any ideas? I tried adding uvcvideo to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist. But the freeze still occurs when the webcam is connected to the VM.
Strike that. The lockup occurs when VMWare attempts to load drivers on boot for a usb webcam.
Huh. So, in VMWare Workstation 6.5 64 bit. Looks like an XP 32bit guest with DaemonTools installed freezes the host system. WEIRD.
Ok. Narrowed down. It's VMware 6.5. Only happens when it's running.
Ok, different Nvidia driver was no help. Did a memtest... no errors. This issue doesn't appear on same machine with 32bit Ubuntu.
Update: Looking likely it's a 64bit + Compiz thing. Looking to see if there's a solution...
Going to try a slightly older rev of the nvidia driver. Maybe that's the culprit (not thinking likely...).
Keep getting random system-wide hangs in Ubuntu 8.10 64bit. Even when just sitting idle. Screen freeze, no kb/mouse. Anyone seen this?
Wooo! Re-install party tonight! Backing up and re-setting up my main dev rig. Always a good time!
Ah hell, why not. Boston and Spin Doctors it is! (DON'T JUDGE ME)
