Today I found a perfect analogy for my freaking-out experience of hearing emails’ notification sound: it's like a Cohock uses the frying pan to hit my head. (cohock, the fat fish from the splatoon salmon run, see the pic attached) so, I turned off all my email notification sound a brilliant decision.

The NY winter storm started on the first day of this semester. I bet it’s going to be a blast... Also, what happened to Myanmar? Another shit show? 🙄

Microaggressions I encountered in PhD level study:
Prof1: I'm “shocked” that you read these sources carefully (bc you're Chinese, I doubt your English ability)
Prof2: I “actually” heard good things about you from other professors (bc you're Chinese, I doubt you can learn well)
Prof3: Americans are used to be very racist toward Chinese (Me: not anymore?)

Berg : Lulu | Marlis Petersen sings "Wenn sich die M...Berg’s operas are as mind-fucking as Wagner’s... The MET production was the best (not the one in the link). The manipulation, frustration, and carelessness in the character, Lulu, reflect the deep hopelessness of the social milieu after WWI. I’m very much frustrated after watching the opera, which turns me into a misanthropic🙂

Robert Morris's work--Untitled. Its texture is very rich and also departs from the referential meaning that I'm used to. Interesting artwork in the mid-20th century America.

Judd pointed out that Frank Stella’s stripe paintings have a unifying quality and a balanced construction that echoes the minimalist ideas. The lack of elemental hierarchies also allows the art to be truly balanced. But I can still see the size, the color contrast, and the ignored elements in the very idea of minimalism.

Modern technologies distract all of my attention. I do fear, and what can I do? Sometimes I wish I lived two centuries ago, but when I thought about the struggle females suffered, I guess I I would rather stay present, a better time...
