I'm using Ping.fm and have SMS alerts set up for my various SM accounts so I know when and where to respond to any inbound comments.

I deleted and re-Sync'd my iPhone contacts using NuevaSync. All my contacts are back and all 50 of my duplicate contacts are gone. YAY! /

I am happy to report that I was able to get NuevaSync to work again and the only double contacts I have are from the 50 that iTunes sync'd.
