Been thinking a lot about old White Wolf/Onyx Path games and how they do world building and it’s honestly a pretty fascinating pattern that happens across their long lived gamelines.
As a thought experiment I have slowly begun to patchwork together Vampire the Masquerade’s two versions and Vampire the Requiem and it’s been a fun exercise.
It is deeply strange to be teaching Things Fall Apart, one of the seminal anti-colonial novels, while poking from time to time at Monster Hunter Wilds, a game that can be (uncharitably) read as contacting uncontacted civilizations so I can tell them about how cool guns and logistic chains are.
A lot of my friends elsewhere are losing their minds for the Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut but as someone who has beaten that game to death I am struggling to think what more needs to be added to it.
