there should be some reverse Karma action going on for stupid behaviour.

karma is a brilliant way to get people hooked & to gain users, while simultaneously encouraging people to post lameness to "level up" (bad)
tjgillies says

heh "level up"
thunderror says

nice way of putting it...level up...hah..
the JoshMeister thinks

it's a good thing for Plurk while it's in its infancy, but like scobleizer says it sucks that it encourages gaming and lameness

it would've been called something other than karma. The term karma has been thrown around a lot lately.

if you offer a prize for higher karma, that's gonna ruin the whole system.

how much would you work for the karma to do exactly that?
TheDreamer says

it is killing my interest, since my karma is going down now....perhaps I should get all depressed and go away. (s_tears)
Ourfounder says

karma is like an annoying tamugochi. You have to slave to plurk in order to maintain it. (:
bruceturner says

ourfounder - hilarious. Whatever it takes, man;-) I do wonder whether karma is a barrier to entry for those who would otherwise participate

since the last 'upgrades' you unlock happen at 50 karma, I really won't care about it at all anymore once I get there.

Karma == reputation. Gaming and stupid behavior happens IRL for reputation - why should digital relationships be simplistic in comparison?
