if Plurk will replace Twitter in your life, and why?
latest #403
webster says
yes, Twitter doesn't seem to care about fixing problems. And Plurk is prettier.
bunneh says
no. plurk has its own place. twitter is more ambient, plurk more active.

Mike Nally says

eventually it might but right now they both have enough unique advantages that I am bouncing between the two.
karllong says
it may not replace it, but IMHO it's a better place to have conversations. Each plurk becomes like a threaded discussion, or chat room
followsound likes

this commenting. Yes will replace twitter eventually. and agree with webster
CoreyHarris says

Twitter wont be replaced, But I do prefer plurk over twitter. I will still use twitter for the "what are you doing" deal .
manon
I personally prefer Plurk but still follow the "regulars" on twitter.
Dano
Have you forgotten Pownce as well? Or does the lack of character limiting take it out of the running? I use all three!
Vinvin says

bigepaz says

it might - I'm addicted!

psogle says
he can't find time for twitter right now with all of this plurking
arturogoga says
I still belive they both can co-exist. There's enough room for both of them. Pownce, however, seems condemned to oblivion to me
JorgeRB says
it might replace Twitter just because Plurk is such a versatile word! Try using it in different contexts, its fun!
arturogoga feels
sorry for the double post. My mistake!
Abashima thinks
he will double post between the two until a clearer critical mass between the two emerges.
bronsont says

Hell NO! :-&
Bwana says

it's well on it's way, but still has a ways to go before I consider it a total replacement for Twitter
亮@infilmity

karma make lots of people stick on here~ (s_cozy)
anorak says
maybe. Still like FriendFeed since it allows me to watch multiple social sites at once.
Abashima thinks
there is definite cause to consider choosing between the two, however. Plurk is pretty nice.
rosenz says
Replace? No. Eventually there will be a way to post to both at once, and we'll all do that.
dalepoco says
Not replace - augment
chillzilla says
I like Plurk, but everyone I know is on Twitter. Until they move over, Plurk won't be a mainstay (for me).
Em ❦ is

still undecided. What about you, veronica?
Keane says
Plurk is a timewaster, but doesn't really work for microblogging.
netzoo says
I'll be surprised if I continue to use plurk beyond one week
Keane says
Plurk is definitely fun though, when active.
SierraPhotog says
yup... Like the timeline concept, and Twitter is just too flaky and "flat" for my tastes
JAG says
yes!! Twitter has to many issues. Plurk has some great people and the respons aspect of plurk is great.
herbg says
plurk is what I though twitter should be.
jakesoto gives
plurk another couple of weeks to pick up some pace, and will be a great addition to twitter. We can all handle 2 sites right?
timbury thinks
that won't happen, yet. Plurk is the newest tool in the toolbox. How many Plurk clients are there?
gm5000 says
I will them both, side by side. twitter and plurk are two different things ...
jimbergman says
for now, co-exist. Too many only on Twitter. Liking Plurk better - fast, better mobile version than Twitter, threads.
haruszpapa says
it might. where's the API?
Grant says
Not a chance in hell
Keane says
It's really quite different from Twitter anyway..
anthonysarino says
Plurk is nice, definitely has a lot of things going for it, but, Twitter is always in my heart, all it needs is to fix the slowness.
wizard says
Not until all my friends move here..
Dasme says
it already has to some extent. The fact that it's a collection of threaded discussions instead of a brain dump makes it more appealing to me
pugofwar thinks
it has a good chance if there's more mobile options :-)
gecko68 says
plurk is nice, and it will too suffer growing pains. The question is .. what will they do about it. Twitter needs to let users know whats up
mtony75
Pretty much has. Plurk just seems more social. At least now anyways.
jlariviere says
well, i have more 'friends' on twitter at the moment; and neither are working well via IM for me
chigaze says
I'm not sure. I do like that Plurk works in a Web Clipping for Dashboard (OS X). Makes it very easy to access and scan.
noclip thinks
of Twitter as the MySpace to Plurk's Facebook.
sprog thinks
it's more fun here, but will have to wait and see where the people go. It's all about the friends.
corntoole says
i have issues making friends so they will both die on vine for me, nice to about web clipper chigaze
SierraPhotog says

KevinDupuy says

I don't know. I like Twitter cause it's simple.
chrisWhite says

JorgeRB says
I'm worried the timeline will get too hectic and unorganized! Thus, losing it's initial flair.
Jeffrey says
It won't yet, but maybe as clients are made and other little tweeks are made it will.
dizzydj says
when SMS alerts and an API comes along I will switch 100%
vtwthrgrl says
i feel some strange loyalty to twitter, but plurk is new and exciting! Plurk needs to get an API before I can decide.
Keane says

I just discovered Blip by Fuzz, an SF-based community, also label for The Lovemakers. Love the guys that work there. Like Twitter for music.
veronica says
I'll never leave Twitter, but I do enjoy Plurk too.
joshuatopolsky says
I could easily see that happening. Plurk seems more stable and less spammy. For now.
BeantownMac loves
the threaded commenting but isn't so crazy about the visual timeline. Likes Twitter better to look at and quickly get a visual of comments.
nallstar says
ummm... in the near future no. I personally like twitters timeline more.
Keane says
I think there are fewer similarities than differences... and they serve different purposes.
joshlawrence says
I think it could - I find the interactivity it encourages through 'a conversation thread for every plurk' very fun.
Cadco says
Maybe since its looks like its more stable than Twitter. At least for now.
Chris Kilian says
like the threads here, but the action is on twitter..when it is available
gwenbell loves
the conversation style, threaded like this. The color coding, timeline & interactivity reminds me of game play.
JavaJunky says
I don't think so. It doesn't fills the same functions. It's kind of like Facebook for twitter. Just prettier!
CajoleJuice wishes
normal people used either of them.
SierraPhotog says
being able to resize the timeline vertically will allieve the inevitable clutter...
Jimmy Rogers says
no way...twitter just just so much more fun...this interface is not very portable in my opinion
JeffKawa says
not yet, I'm still a twitterer first
justG
Not even close. Plurk's a novelty for me; Twitter is actually extremely useful. I love Plurk's threaded convos, but timeline's not scalable.
caeles says
plurk looks alot prettier. So yeah. Plurk and Pownce would probably be my mainstays
bloggersblog says
twitter is better for sharing news and links but plurk is fun.

Anything else is too difficult. I could not imagine getting my New Orleans cadre acclimated to this UI.
bruceclarke says

nightsky says
yes, because I have no friends on twitter. I just follow lots of people there.
germancommando says
I will probably end up using both as they each have aspects I like.
randyh0

Autotom shares

LexFortis thinks
Plurk may do too much to be as useful as Twitter.
mattido says
Not unless everyone jumps Twitter's ship. The Plurk interface, although prettier, is a little klunky.
Rana thinks
the two might coexist in her life.

frog says
Veronica, it might replace it if all my twitter friends move AND if it proves fast and reliable
nicolelee says
Maybe. Mostly because Twitter has become a popularity contest and Plurk feels more homey.
teampoop
odds are I will forget to check both sites and since I have TwitterFox, that's going to be the one I remain on.
mgalli says
I think its cuter and it actually fucking works! It still needs a better friend-finder though...
FergatROn says
it's cute, but right now twitter is more convenient with their APIs. I do it from my Blackberry most of the time.
Roeurn says
No, Twitter has that stream of conscienceless to it; it is simple and element in what it does.
mellowgeorge says
plurk is nice when I'm in front of the monitor, but not when im running around.
TinaB says
Twitter is set up in outlook so it is always on, I'm not sure I am thrilled with the layout either.
daferret says
If Twitter keeps going down when I want to tweet, then yes, Plurk could be my new home. Twitter's simplicity is what made it great for me.
johnpastor says
The only thing missing from Plurk is a desktop app like Twitterific.
shafiu says
Dont think so, Twitter is simple and easy. Plurk is too ajaxy ;-)
jbchurchill says

Gamer Curmudgeon says

tossayo

tossayo
might switch to plurk once it has all the twitter features AND an option for a clean twitter-like interface
chigaze says
It's growing on me, but the fan/friend distinction needs to go. If I follow you, I'm a fan, if we both follow each other then we're friends.
chigaze says
Oh and a real search would be nice too. :-D
outlaw84 says
Plurk needs more features like search
djstoddard thinks
I'm still too new to Plurk to give it a true feeling. But for now, Twitter leads.
noxa says
depends if plurk will make it or not
Moosifer
I don't think Plurk will replace twitter for me. Twitter if nice and easy and plurk is a little odd and hard to read sometimes.
jngai feels
that Plurk is like Myspace and Twitter is like facebook, one is cleaner, the other has tons of stuff to play w/, but which is which?
FergatROn says
You can Plurk using your Instant Messengers... I'm also using www.ping.fm with my IM to Plurk too.
jimbarrett says
hands down I prefer twitter, but I can plurk for a bit to see where it goes
FergatROn says
man it goes! I stopped working when I signed up. I'm gonna get in so much trouble. (LOL)
Jeanine says
twitter just seems so much easier to me? Plurk wins award for better looking though.
RogueTess says
not unless Plurk develops the same type of content-heavy community. I must admit I like threaded conversations, though. But karma is icky.
Namastelh says
it's too early to tell - right now I'm bouncing back and forth - but I'm already tired of that
thecolor says
no, but it could be an additive to addiction if it would only cross post! It's to fancy, not that that is bad, but twitter is just simple.
blackfeathers says
but no matter what happens, i will still like pizza (referring to other thread lol)
jtrump thinks
it will be too hard to get non-tech friends and family to make the switch to plurk.
chilko thinks
it won't.
jefflarkin will
consider Plurk over Twitter more seriously when there's an API. Most likely he'll end up double-posting as soon as there's a way.
RogueTess says
jefflarkin try ping.fm (beta code lifeofping) for double-posting
jasonvega thinks

daynah says
no, unless all the tech people I follow move here. :-)
TJCS63 says
Maybe but for now Twitter for me is mostly TECH. Plurk is mostly Social. Plurk allows for connected posts so there is interaction to follow
iamsammy says
i hope not. i like twitter, just really wish it would, you know, work.
ainokaze says
no. I have some friends here, but much more in Twitter
Russ says
Nah, but it has turned me into a double poster. Plurk does have waay cooler mascots though.
hendryx says
I think the big thing with twitter is the im/txt intergration combined with the reply style of conversation. A simple status update isn't!
insurgent
If Pownce would just use AJAX to expand comments inline like this then they would have been the perfect replacement. Plurk may win now.
Jim Lunsford says
No. I use each service (Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, and Plurk) differently. ;-)
Hawklu says
yeah, think Plurk will replace Twitter. I have 85 people I don't know following me on Twitter, but on Plurk, I have 3 and have more fun.

Ikcor says

No. No client and too hard to read. even the m. version.
punterjoe feels

Twitter was my "gateway drug" it led me to Plurk, but will not replace it.
fahnty says
No. With Twitter, you can use texting. Also, not too many people use Plurk. But, Plurk wins visually.
Anome thinks
probably not, but that's as much to do with the way I use Twitter as anything else.
edsonst says

rabbitroodle thinks

plurk is funner to use
aubretigre says
depends on if it stays up
TuxOtaku says
it very well could. If they would release an API. I would totally switch.
Max says
Plurk replaced Twitter a long long time ago.
andrewmartin says
both have their days. plurk doesn't have too many people on it though
geekomancer
I guess Plurk appeals to my addiction to IM'ing :-)
tysoncrosbie thinks
twitter is still king of micro blogging.
TuxOtaku says
tysoncrosbie Plurk has a different M.O. than Twitter, as can be seen by this very post.
mycatranch
As long as Twitter gets better. No. But, if Twitter doesn't fix their borking, then yeah.
tysoncrosbie says
tuxotaku I agree that it is different, I just see differences that I think undermine the importance of the platform compared to twitter.
Borat says

in my country, man with biggest Karma is most powerful leader. i want to crush him!
DavidKnighton says
Twitter is becoming too spammy and noisy. I've been using Plurk for a weeknow, and I prefer it.
eventbrander says
it seems more fun so far
huy says
I like plurks interface better.
daveb says
not until the have a cool app like Twinkle for my iPhone
MichaelKing says
I still use Twitter as well
randyh0 says
Plurk addressed the mute issue beeautifully. Twitters issues remain. Plurk's lookin' good.
IdoNotes says
we just did a site analysis podcast on Plurk, episode 3 of TheSocialGeeks
dugk says
it already has replaced twitter because it is easier to get friends involved, because it is easier to see the purpose
MidnightMoon thinks
plurk is more aesthetically pleasing than twitter
jvedman
No, they are different things. I love the stuff plurk does, but it isn't portable like twitter. I can twitter with JUST sms. Plurk? no way.
argosytech says
If plurk added things like sms support there is a possibility that it could pwn Twitter, but for now I'll be on both... :-D
justinmwhitaker is
still on the fence about plurk
jeffmccord says
nope.
sentientlee
I only use Plurk now, it seems more interactive than Twitter. If anything Plurk will trounce Pownce. Pownce is beefier but boring!
sentientlee thinks
that Plurk needs to release and API and iPhone.app to truly grow huge... but thats just my $0.02 :-))
boondox feels
the same about the api.
medebe says
Love twitter, but plurk works and seems to be "up" more often...just went to Twitter and it's over capacity again.
boondox likes
the whale but doesnt like to see it cause of what it means.
justinmwhitaker says
Interesting how the API affects uptake.
justinmwhitaker thinks
friendfeed is more viable as a Twitter alternative
digitaltodd says
with tools like hellotxt i think you could manage both but plurk is more fun :-)
brettmerritt feels
like Plurk might have a leg up on Twitter right now.
Jimmy Rogers says
not a chance....i'm finding plurk kind of lame
papoanaya says
Plurk needs to have external API's. Otherwise, it'll wane as the novelty wears off.
Jason
Plurk has threading.
rdlinder says
not sure yet. It's to new for me.
travisliles feels
like if there was text messaging support, both ways, in this or pownce that twitter could go away
Dee says
if it will it's because plurk seems to be more fun and interactive than twitter.
 Ronnie says
Not now methinks. I'm not that comfortable with the web interface of Plurk
AlexFRUK says
not sure, still getting used to the interface really.
SusieScrapper says
I'm getting more used to plurk and like it better and easier to communicate and can kind of chat!!
bunneh says
i am using plurk now less and less. the ui is neat but less utilitarian
ianenos03 wants

two things for Plurk to replace Twitter: SMS, and my friends. Seriously people, accept my invites.
Calaban says
ask again in about three months. Time not only heals all wounds, it determines all futures.
Konstantino says
I definitely have more fun using Plurk, it just needs more support from programs, phones, and it needs a vertical interface on those things.
fozzyfatboyslim says
plurking is fun needs more mobile support like tweeting has
Calaban says
konstantino: It has a vertical interface on the iphone.
leadingzero says
I hope not. Most of my friends are on twitter.
ChrisWDP thinks
that I could use both. But Plurk does need a desktop app. Not sure how it would work.
Valo says
I'm really giving plurk a try, the thing that it's missing is SMS. Unless I haven't found it.
ericlitman says
Twitter's an overwhelming roar, but Plurk's lonely. There's got to be a middle ground. Anyone using Plurk's cliques yet? Or still too small?
elranchero says
I definately like the plurk interface
walkedintoafan says
I was not on twitter much so it already has.
bigchrisystyle says
they're both good, so no. twitter for quick messages and plurk better at talking between ppl (better than @....)
bnycastro is
undecided ATM. but thinks he's keeping both :-D
merlik thinks
he will keep both because they kind of serve different purposes, but time will tell.
punterjoe thinks
Twitter's utter simplicity is it's genius. Plurk is a whole different thing. Not better or worse - just ...other.
jon426 thinks
yes
joaovsantos feels
that Twitter will ot be placed for him. In good part thanks to all different kinds of feed that exist there and also thanks to twhirl.
dickieadams says
I doubt it. More than likely, I'll end up using a service like ping.fm to coordinate the two.
CarolFil says
I don't think so. I like Twitter but I'm really not liking Plurk... so far.
sentientlee says
Plurk just converted me! I couldn't EVER had a long and in-depth convo like this on Twitter !www.plurk.com/p/fcqk
t3mujin says
if twitter keeps falling it could replace...
t3mujin loves
plurk lets me share photos, twitter don't ;-)
elranchero says
if twitter went down yes
ccadenhead says
not yet, but maybe....
Anth
nope, plurk is just too wierd
bnycastro thinks
both have a place in my life...
Mentat says
for mew I like the interface of plurk much better than twitter. It's easier to follow the time line
markradams says
Yes, Plurk has public and private threads, fan & friend, cliques, and u can limit noise by marking threads read. Can't do that on twitter:-)
Gamer Curmudgeon
I'd like Plurk more if it would stop mysteriously unmuting threads like this one!
finucane says
I don't think it was muted, just nobody responded to it in 11 days.
finucane says
you can reopen any can of worms in the entire timeline from what it looks like.
Gamer Curmudgeon
No, it was muted... it happens, and not just to this thread. I've also had people I put on Ignore get un-Ignored. Not a huge deal, really.
Mojo says
I'm waiting to see if it scales, and if my friends follow from Twitter.
tcw115 says
I find myself Plurking more, cuz it's more fun and I seem to interact more on here than I twitter.
andysp says
I think that wtitter will die in time, fue to the fact they have such big problems
Adimester says
the only thing i don't like about plurk is the lack of sms and 3rd party apps(i'd like something like twitterfox).other than that it's great
AWWang
Yes! It'll make everything more easier! :-)!
AWWang

spaceguy says
May not have a choice the way Twitter is acting today! :-P I prefer Twitter but like comments in Plurk.
influxx says
only if every one of mt twitter peeps joins the plurk circus, which is doubtful. But who knows, if twiiter keeps acting like a bitch, maybe.
MikePoz90 says
it pretty much already has
nlbctim says
depends on how Twitter is going to fix their problems.. or if they will.
nthused says
