yes, Twitter doesn't seem to care about fixing problems. And Plurk is prettier.
no. plurk has its own place. twitter is more ambient, plurk more active.
eventually it might but right now they both have enough unique advantages that I am bouncing between the two.
it may not replace it, but IMHO it's a better place to have conversations. Each plurk becomes like a threaded discussion, or chat room
this commenting. Yes will replace twitter eventually. and agree with
webster
Twitter wont be replaced, But I do prefer plurk over twitter. I will still use twitter for the "what are you doing" deal .
I personally prefer Plurk but still follow the "regulars" on twitter.
Have you forgotten Pownce as well? Or does the lack of character limiting take it out of the running? I use all three!
that it's too early to decide.
he can't find time for twitter right now with all of this plurking
I still belive they both can co-exist. There's enough room for both of them. Pownce, however, seems condemned to oblivion to me
it might replace Twitter just because Plurk is such a versatile word! Try using it in different contexts, its fun!
sorry for the double post. My mistake!
he will double post between the two until a clearer critical mass between the two emerges.
Hell NO!
it's well on it's way, but still has a ways to go before I consider it a total replacement for Twitter
karma make lots of people stick on here~
maybe. Still like FriendFeed since it allows me to watch multiple social sites at once.
there is definite cause to consider choosing between the two, however. Plurk is pretty nice.
Replace? No. Eventually there will be a way to post to both at once, and we'll all do that.
I like Plurk, but everyone I know is on Twitter. Until they move over, Plurk won't be a mainstay (for me).
still undecided. What about you,
veronica?
Plurk is a timewaster, but doesn't really work for microblogging.
I'll be surprised if I continue to use plurk beyond one week
Plurk is definitely fun though, when active.
yup... Like the timeline concept, and Twitter is just too flaky and "flat" for my tastes
yes!! Twitter has to many issues. Plurk has some great people and the respons aspect of plurk is great.
plurk is what I though twitter should be.
plurk another couple of weeks to pick up some pace, and will be a great addition to twitter. We can all handle 2 sites right?
that won't happen, yet. Plurk is the newest tool in the toolbox. How many Plurk clients are there?
I will them both, side by side. twitter and plurk are two different things ...
for now, co-exist. Too many only on Twitter. Liking Plurk better - fast, better mobile version than Twitter, threads.
it might. where's the API?
It's really quite different from Twitter anyway..
Plurk is nice, definitely has a lot of things going for it, but, Twitter is always in my heart, all it needs is to fix the slowness.
Not until all my friends move here..
it already has to some extent. The fact that it's a collection of threaded discussions instead of a brain dump makes it more appealing to me
it has a good chance if there's more mobile options
plurk is nice, and it will too suffer growing pains. The question is .. what will they do about it. Twitter needs to let users know whats up
Pretty much has. Plurk just seems more social. At least now anyways.
well, i have more 'friends' on twitter at the moment; and neither are working well via IM for me
I'm not sure. I do like that Plurk works in a Web Clipping for Dashboard (OS X). Makes it very easy to access and scan.
of Twitter as the MySpace to Plurk's Facebook.
sprog
thinks 17 years ago
it's more fun here, but will have to wait and see where the people go. It's all about the friends.
i have issues making friends so they will both die on vine for me, nice to about web clipper
chigaze
I'd like to be able to search for users I know are here. Response window is a bit buggy, too...
I don't know. I like Twitter cause it's simple.
Maybe, if all the people on Twitter were on Plurk there's a good chance of it. I really want the best of both worlds though
I do most of my Twittering/Plurling from my iPhone, the one with best client will win me over
I'm worried the timeline will get too hectic and unorganized! Thus, losing it's initial flair.
It won't yet, but maybe as clients are made and other little tweeks are made it will.
when SMS alerts and an API comes along I will switch 100%
i feel some strange loyalty to twitter, but plurk is new and exciting! Plurk needs to get an API before I can decide.
I just discovered Blip by Fuzz, an SF-based community, also label for The Lovemakers. Love the guys that work there. Like Twitter for music.
I'll never leave Twitter, but I do enjoy Plurk too.
I could easily see that happening. Plurk seems more stable and less spammy. For now.
the threaded commenting but isn't so crazy about the visual timeline. Likes Twitter better to look at and quickly get a visual of comments.
ummm... in the near future no. I personally like twitters timeline more.
I think there are fewer similarities than differences... and they serve different purposes.
I think it could - I find the interactivity it encourages through 'a conversation thread for every plurk' very fun.
Maybe since its looks like its more stable than Twitter. At least for now.
like the threads here, but the action is on twitter..when it is available
the conversation style, threaded like this. The color coding, timeline & interactivity reminds me of game play.
I don't think so. It doesn't fills the same functions. It's kind of like Facebook for twitter. Just prettier!
normal people used either of them.
being able to resize the timeline vertically will allieve the inevitable clutter...
no way...twitter just just so much more fun...this interface is not very portable in my opinion
not yet, I'm still a twitterer first
Not even close. Plurk's a novelty for me; Twitter is actually extremely useful. I love Plurk's threaded convos, but timeline's not scalable.
plurk looks alot prettier. So yeah. Plurk and Pownce would probably be my mainstays
twitter is better for sharing news and links but plurk is fun.
Anything else is too difficult. I could not imagine getting my New Orleans cadre acclimated to this UI.
that the jury is still out. I find Twitter easier to keep up with but I like the Plurk features so far
yes, because I have no friends on twitter. I just follow lots of people there.
I will probably end up using both as they each have aspects I like.
yes, because is it so much easier to find/follow a conversation.
Never will I love twitter it is simple and accessable from my mobile devices and has a lot of 3rd party fun stuff with it
Plurk may do too much to be as useful as Twitter.
Not unless everyone jumps Twitter's ship. The Plurk interface, although prettier, is a little klunky.
the two might coexist in her life.
plurk, but not as much as twitter... at least not until there is SMS integration
No, It needs a classic view and Text support
I admit I just feel I have to try it. I don't want the 'next big thing' to pass me by... Did not think I was that shallow.
Veronica, it might replace it if all my twitter friends move AND if it proves fast and reliable
Maybe. Mostly because Twitter has become a popularity contest and Plurk feels more homey.
odds are I will forget to check both sites and since I have TwitterFox, that's going to be the one I remain on.
I think its cuter and it actually fucking works! It still needs a better friend-finder though...
it's cute, but right now twitter is more convenient with their APIs. I do it from my Blackberry most of the time.
No, Twitter has that stream of conscienceless to it; it is simple and element in what it does.
plurk is nice when I'm in front of the monitor, but not when im running around.
Twitter is set up in outlook so it is always on, I'm not sure I am thrilled with the layout either.
If Twitter keeps going down when I want to tweet, then yes, Plurk could be my new home. Twitter's simplicity is what made it great for me.
The only thing missing from Plurk is a desktop app like Twitterific.
Dont think so, Twitter is simple and easy. Plurk is too ajaxy
When I say I'm going to plurk someone, HR gets nervous. So I vote no.
I like Plurk more than I thought I would... really quickly.
I think I'll stick with twitter. More interaction as it stands now... TwitterBerry, Twirl, all that stuff.
not yet... needs API and widgets!
does not want to leave twitter
might switch to plurk once it has all the twitter features AND an option for a clean twitter-like interface
It's growing on me, but the fan/friend distinction needs to go. If I follow you, I'm a fan, if we both follow each other then we're friends.
Oh and a real search would be nice too.
Plurk needs more features like search
I'm still too new to Plurk to give it a true feeling. But for now, Twitter leads.
depends if plurk will make it or not
I don't think Plurk will replace twitter for me. Twitter if nice and easy and plurk is a little odd and hard to read sometimes.
that Plurk is like Myspace and Twitter is like facebook, one is cleaner, the other has tons of stuff to play w/, but which is which?
You can Plurk using your Instant Messengers... I'm also using
www.ping.fm with my IM to Plurk too.
hands down I prefer twitter, but I can plurk for a bit to see where it goes
man it goes! I stopped working when I signed up. I'm gonna get in so much trouble.
twitter just seems so much easier to me? Plurk wins award for better looking though.
not unless Plurk develops the same type of content-heavy community. I must admit I like threaded conversations, though. But karma is icky.
it's too early to tell - right now I'm bouncing back and forth - but I'm already tired of that
no, but it could be an additive to addiction if it would only cross post! It's to fancy, not that that is bad, but twitter is just simple.
but no matter what happens, i will still like pizza (referring to other thread lol)
it will be too hard to get non-tech friends and family to make the switch to plurk.
consider Plurk over Twitter more seriously when there's an API. Most likely he'll end up double-posting as soon as there's a way.
jefflarkin try ping.fm (beta code lifeofping) for double-posting
Plurk is a good alternative, but not replacement for Twitter.
Twitter is fugly, i kinda like thies
I dunno, I like twitter because I can text to it. Am I a phone geek?
until there is an interface other than the website, I don't see it happening.
no, unless all the tech people I follow move here.
Maybe but for now Twitter for me is mostly TECH. Plurk is mostly Social. Plurk allows for connected posts so there is interaction to follow
i hope not. i like twitter, just really wish it would, you know, work.
no. I have some friends here, but much more in Twitter
Nah, but it has turned me into a double poster. Plurk does have waay cooler mascots though.
I think the big thing with twitter is the im/txt intergration combined with the
reply style of conversation. A simple status update isn't!
If Pownce would just use AJAX to expand comments inline like this then they would have been the perfect replacement. Plurk may win now.
No. I use each service (Twitter, Pownce, Jaiku, and Plurk) differently.
yeah, think Plurk will replace Twitter. I have 85 people I don't know following me on Twitter, but on Plurk, I have 3 and have more fun.
Twitter, it's not you, it's me. Wait, that's wrong. It is you.
I don't know if plurk is going to replace twitter for me. I'm not feeling the timeline view.
maybe, but for the time being I'll probably be using both.
I follow people on Twitter but few follow me. When I post here I feel more people see it and I see more people Plurking.
i mainly tweet to give mom updates. plurk is a bit much for what she wants.
not likely. not until you can use it mobile/txt
No. No client and too hard to read. even the m. version.
Twitter was my "gateway drug" it led me to Plurk, but will not replace it.
No. With Twitter, you can use texting. Also, not too many people use Plurk. But, Plurk wins visually.
Anome
thinks 17 years ago
probably not, but that's as much to do with the way I use Twitter as anything else.
that Plurk isn't my favorite. YET!
yeah...I'm pretty much done with Twitter. Tired of the downtime and the assholes. Plurk is to Twitter as Facebook is to MySpace.
twitter to me is boring nothing happens unless your following some one
not to mention it's down... again!
sigh! Looks like it. It is down again.
I don't see Plurk replacing Twitter altogether although Plurk can really cut into Twitter's market share if it stays up as Twitter is down.
I don't want to replace Twitter with Plurk/Pownce/Jaiku, but will have to decide real soon. I am going where my friends are.
I could see Plurk replacing Twitter for me if a) an API is released b) SMS support is added and c) my Twitter friends come here.
No, it takes too much work to microblog. But it may be able to co-exist. Maybe if a good iPhone client comes out next week.
I would go with twitter for now but both are good reasons: more people I know or follow are on twitter. will use both and post to both

an idea: plurk and twitter are not the same thing, imo, and it's sort of like comparing apples and oranges.
personally, i don't like twitter, the interface, etc, but i do like plurk. they both let you update "what you're doing"...
...but plurk just flows better for me, and makes more sense from an ease of use/tracking side.
oh... but i don't have 1200+ friends... (yikes)
eh, i think twitter has the edge in ease of use at the moment. i think the thread creating ability of plurk making it addictive.
I will continue using both. Both are very different to me. I'm using Plurk more though. But it will fade a little after some time.
plurk should maybe have a public timeline? and sms.
plurk does have a public timeline. click on interesting plurkers, and that timeline on the top is the public one.
plurk's timeline gives me headache, twitter's uptime gives me headache.. i don't know really
I'm already addicted to Twitter, have more friends there and like OutTwit and FB integration.
probably not, I like scrolling up/down not left right. =/
not until there is a more usable MOBILE version.. twitter is easy
is waiting before answering
because it actually works?
Starting to come around to Plurk
If someone can kill those dancing emoticons
do I have to choose? I like having multiple emails, blogs, sites, etc. Makes sense then that I want multiple 'micros'.
the way Plurk keeps conversation's toghether - unlike Twitter which just mashes everything together.
I love twitter. and i like plurk. I prefer multiple social networks. So I will probably use both.
agrees with mgoetsch. although I see myself using plurk more, just seems more inviting.
i like the timeline feature, little rewards are cool
when I hit the return key, this plurk will have collected at least 226 comments. wow
No. Twitter is simple, which is why it's great
it will only replace twitter if it's up more frequently, and if my friends will move over :-/
It's all about karma baby, karma
i'm enjoying it just as much as twitter, but it's not quite as simple to use.
Maybe but I don't know. BTW, thanks for the invite?! According to Plurk's front page, you're the one that invited me to Plurk.
Plurk > Twitter. End of discussion.
what makes Twitter "simpler" than Plurk? Type in a box, hit enter... ??
Yes! Way cool graphical interface and easy-to-follow threads.
yes, because plurk actually tried to be somewhat original. And succeeded imo.
Plurk will replace Twitter when I can have my Google IM connected and be able to search for like minded people.
plurk mobile version got the simplicity of twitter
www.plurk.com/m ; iThink, plurk needs more people though before it reaches twitter-level
I think it's interesting but it needs a desktop client to make it useful.
no, Twitter is where a review what my friends were doing, Plurk is the new thing and we are all curious but Twitter will survive
i don't think so, they're different enough
it already has. plurk=super crack. I am addicted and want more mommy
nope. I gain much more professional knowledge and connections through Twitter.
i think is better than twitter but i still like Pownce the best..
It will, if only because of the uptime. But also because of the readability, and the thumb nails of photos/videos
it won't happen
decline to choose. Why not use them all?
B/C PLURK IS TEH SHIT! lol
Not yet. Where are all of my friends? Where is the mobile Plurk? Where is the API? Where are all the services I have on twitter? Nice GUI
Plurk HAS replaced Twitter. Miss all the access options and the development community, but its just more "Social".
he has never been able to get 'into' twitter but thinks plurk is a hell of a lot more fun..
on my iPhone, it's both Plurk & Twitter. On a computer... mostly Plurk.
plurk might get boring as people keep asking inane questions in order to artificially raise their karma
Don't own a cell-phone, so Plurk seems more usable.
If ever, it's because Twitter is blocked at where I work.
twitter going down and not consistent. if twitter won't shape up I might ditch it completely.
jmalonzo, true. I am not bright enough to follow what is happening here.
to replace it with something that has more features. Merge FriendFeed, Brightkite, Plurk, & Twitter & you'll have me.
Plurk has a pretty face. But, is not sure if it can be 'more' nimble then twitter. Will it cross platform well? If it does, I'm in.
think it works on M$ window$ and Mac
maybe, but only b/c I prefer the interface and better dependability
the lack of a good plurk API... and it ain't built in to Digsby
I'm about to delete my Twitter account!
when twitter is down, yeah.
Probably not... just starting on Plurk... though I'm not all that devoted to Twitter either.
I don't think so. Twitter is still a little fast & easier read ; updates & replies.
that it depends on how the mature and how well they scale. Timeline is nice, lack of API & mobile features like sharing photos are lacking.
Maybe if they get it working. Their IM is down too.
Depends on how many of my friends make the move...
Not sure yet, but I like the timeline layout.
I love Twitter, but it has got to give me a reason to stick around.
veronica worded it like an essay question but is limited to 140 characters.
It has thus far. May be just he newness, tho.
If Ihnatko was on plurk, i'd stop using twitter altogether. Oddly, the more conversational element here would, imo, better match his posts..
hmmm I use both so I'd have to say No.
no, because this whole scrolling thing is all joggy and unhelpful when trying to update people on the small, mundane events in my life
frustrated with twitter. didn't seem to stay up to date yesterday following the WWDC tweets. However, It was first and will probably live on
if plurk could crosspost like twhirl (or even cross-recieve?) twitter might be in trouble
depends on if it stays up
it very well could. If they would release an API. I would totally switch.
Plurk replaced Twitter a long long time ago.
both have their days. plurk doesn't have too many people on it though
I guess Plurk appeals to my addiction to IM'ing
twitter is still king of micro blogging.
tysoncrosbie Plurk has a different M.O. than Twitter, as can be seen by this very post.
As long as Twitter gets better. No. But, if Twitter doesn't fix their borking, then yeah.
tuxotaku I agree that it is different, I just see differences that I think undermine the importance of the platform compared to twitter.
in my country, man with biggest Karma is most powerful leader. i want to crush him!
Twitter is becoming too spammy and noisy. I've been using Plurk for a weeknow, and I prefer it.
I like plurks interface better.
not until the have a cool app like Twinkle for my iPhone
I still use Twitter as well
Plurk addressed the mute issue beeautifully. Twitters issues remain. Plurk's lookin' good.
we just did a site analysis podcast on Plurk, episode 3 of TheSocialGeeks
it already has replaced twitter because it is easier to get friends involved, because it is easier to see the purpose
plurk is more aesthetically pleasing than twitter
No, they are different things. I love the stuff plurk does, but it isn't portable like twitter. I can twitter with JUST sms. Plurk? no way.
If plurk added things like sms support there is a possibility that it could pwn Twitter, but for now I'll be on both...
still on the fence about plurk
I only use Plurk now, it seems more interactive than Twitter. If anything Plurk will trounce Pownce. Pownce is beefier but boring!
that Plurk needs to release and API and iPhone.app to truly grow huge... but thats just my $0.02
Love twitter, but plurk works and seems to be "up" more often...just went to Twitter and it's over capacity again.
the whale but doesnt like to see it cause of what it means.
Interesting how the API affects uptake.
friendfeed is more viable as a Twitter alternative
with tools like hellotxt i think you could manage both but plurk is more fun
like Plurk might have a leg up on Twitter right now.
not a chance....i'm finding plurk kind of lame
Plurk needs to have external API's. Otherwise, it'll wane as the novelty wears off.
not sure yet. It's to new for me.
like if there was text messaging support, both ways, in this or pownce that twitter could go away
if it will it's because plurk seems to be more fun and interactive than twitter.
Not now methinks. I'm not that comfortable with the web interface of Plurk
not sure, still getting used to the interface really.
I'm getting more used to plurk and like it better and easier to communicate and can kind of chat!!
i am using plurk now less and less. the ui is neat but less utilitarian
two things for Plurk to replace Twitter: SMS, and my friends. Seriously people, accept my invites.
ask again in about three months. Time not only heals all wounds, it determines all futures.
I definitely have more fun using Plurk, it just needs more support from programs, phones, and it needs a vertical interface on those things.
plurking is fun needs more mobile support like tweeting has
konstantino: It has a vertical interface on the iphone.
I hope not. Most of my friends are on twitter.
that I could use both. But Plurk does need a desktop app. Not sure how it would work.
I'm really giving plurk a try, the thing that it's missing is SMS. Unless I haven't found it.
Twitter's an overwhelming roar, but Plurk's lonely. There's got to be a middle ground. Anyone using Plurk's cliques yet? Or still too small?
I definately like the plurk interface
I was not on twitter much so it already has.
they're both good, so no. twitter for quick messages and plurk better at talking between ppl (better than @....)
undecided ATM. but thinks he's keeping both
he will keep both because they kind of serve different purposes, but time will tell.
Twitter's utter simplicity is it's genius. Plurk is a whole different thing. Not better or worse - just ...other.
that Twitter will ot be placed for him. In good part thanks to all different kinds of feed that exist there and also thanks to twhirl.
I doubt it. More than likely, I'll end up using a service like
ping.fm to coordinate the two.
I don't think so. I like Twitter but I'm really not liking Plurk... so far.
Plurk just converted me! I couldn't EVER had a long and in-depth convo like this on Twitter !
www.plurk.com/p/fcqk
if twitter keeps falling it could replace...
plurk lets me share photos, twitter don't
nope, plurk is just too wierd
both have a place in my life...
for mew I like the interface of plurk much better than twitter. It's easier to follow the time line
Yes, Plurk has public and private threads, fan & friend, cliques, and u can limit noise by marking threads read. Can't do that on twitter
I'd like Plurk more if it would stop mysteriously unmuting threads like this one!
I don't think it was muted, just nobody responded to it in 11 days.
you can reopen any can of worms in the entire timeline from what it looks like.
No, it was muted... it happens, and not just to this thread. I've also had people I put on Ignore get un-Ignored. Not a huge deal, really.
I'm waiting to see if it scales, and if my friends follow from Twitter.
I find myself Plurking more, cuz it's more fun and I seem to interact more on here than I twitter.
I think that wtitter will die in time, fue to the fact they have such big problems
the only thing i don't like about plurk is the lack of sms and 3rd party apps(i'd like something like twitterfox).other than that it's great
Yes! It'll make everything more easier!

!
cont'd... and more happier!

!
Twitter form my phones still make me stay with twitter and jott to twitter is so nice too ...
I'm not sure I'm smart enough to get plurk. but I'm trying
May not have a choice the way Twitter is acting today!

I prefer Twitter but like comments in Plurk.
only if every one of mt twitter peeps joins the plurk circus, which is doubtful. But who knows, if twiiter keeps acting like a bitch, maybe.
it pretty much already has
depends on how Twitter is going to fix their problems.. or if they will.
Plurk pretty much has replaced my Twitter updates.
Twitter sucks, Plurk rocks!

! Twitter sucks, Plurk rocks!

! Twitter sucks, Plurk rocks!

! Twitter sucks, Plurk rocks!

!
