I saw the freebie texture from Creative Market this morning and thought it would make a cute piece of wall art. 4 hours later, I've got that inworld. But in my continuing saga of "it's always something"
with mesh, it's 8 Land Impact, which I'm guessing is just way too much for a piece of wall decor
but I don't know how to make it lower
extruded verticies to outline it and then extruded the edge loop, filled the faces.
Yeah, I'd do 8 li for, like, a bed. But wall art should be 1.
hmm i wonder why its so high LI
it's a lot of verts/tris. But I know there are tricks for making detailed things lower LI. I dropped the verts on the lower LODs and it turned into a blob too fast.
I'm sure there's a better way to do it. I know I've seen some pretty detailed stuff come in world really low LI
I wonder if leaving the back off would help much. I could bury it in the prim for the shadow. I'll try that.
8 land impact is about right for that geometry. what people dont realize is that most items that are very low impact, all the LODs are removed so the customer can have lower prim count.
you all would be shocked if we didnt knock off the lod's... your lovely couch would be 40 PE or your bed 30...
you can change the size to lower the PE count- the larger the mesh , the PE count will go up
the main sun shape is an ngon (has more than 4 points) that will result in the high LI
i dont think sl will allow you to upload ngons. you would get an error message
You could drop the lowest to zero.
I just figured the ngon got triangulated in the collada export. And I knocked the size down to what I thought would be reasonable for a wall hanging. It's not huge. But yeah, it would be lower if I shrunk
it smaller. I think I'm going to try modeling some of the LODs to see if I can get a lower poly without becoming a blob. I don't care that much about
this thing, but I want to crack the code
and I let the uploader calculate both the LODs and the physics shape. I'll model them both and see what that does
if it goes on a wall remove the faces on the back and all faces that no one would see
