there is so crazy much variation in the chinese chicken salad recipes I'm looking at. Some use soy sauce, some peanut butter, some rice wine vinegar, some sesame oil. Lots of other things change too.

even whether it's lettuce or cabbage you use (I'm using lettuce, because that's what I've got, but lots of them call for cabbage). I'm so confused. I lost my old recipe and I can't figure out which of these

personally I wouldn't use peanut butter, that sounds like something you'd do if you didn't have sesame oil. i would use a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil and a bit of rice wine vinegar for acid.

also, i'd prefer it with cabbage, or at least a mixture of lettuce and cabbage for some extra crunch, but yeah use what you have.

right, and I always have a head of cabbage stuffed in the back of the fridge for soup or stirfry or coleslaw, but somehow I'm out. It would be better with cabbage. I thought the peanut butter sounded weird

TY! I looked at at least 10 recipes and didn't find that one. It's much more like what I was remembering!

yeah, I'm not a huge fan of this dish but that's how i would make it if i did, skip the gross peanut butter situation lol

it's not my favorite salad... too sweet and greasy, but my son will eat it, and it's hard to get veggies into him.
