have you ever almost died? Colleen's post about stupid stuff kids do had me thinking about the time I fell out of a tree, from the very tippy top, because the teensy branch I was standing on broke.
I was WAY above the neighbor's two story house roof. I think probably well above three stories up. But no one ever raked the leaves or branches or debris from under that tree, so all that I got was a broken
leg and a bad concussion. I definitely could have died if I that tall pile of leaves hadn't broken my fall
and I drowned in a lake, had to be rescesitated, was gone to the point that I wasn't breathing when they pulled me out (sink hole pulled me under)
there were more. I was definitely reckless as a kid
i once crossed a bridge, 100 feet over a river, under the bridge
then when we were on the other side, decided to cross back.. through the river. while the tide was raising. i almost went with the current.
yeah, it's a wonder so many of us are still here, huh?
i won't list all the rest but yeah, laws of chaos are mysterious.
At least a few times... I was a competitive triathlete.
I nearly drowned once - caught in weeds that held me under water. My brother saved me. After my surgery, twice.
I was on a third floor balcony with some friends when the steel L brackets that were holding the concrete slab in place (apparently the balconies were an 'addition') bent about 35% the wrong direction
Yeah, I remember at least one of the surgical complications, when Gidge shared it and then your recount of it afterwards Cajsa

so glad you dodged those bullets, all of you!
Yes i almost died at my birth and then later by a roof avalanche
rolled my car twice, as in it went over 2x, when i got ran off the road at 16, a fire when i was about 6 months old, and the time i was surfing in my 20s when my board got a bite taken out of it
Xonxy: fortunately it was just an exploratory taste/nibble, not a full on speed attack.. i was waiting on a wave and everything was up front, i very quickly pulled everything up onto the board
waited for it to let go and swim away... i think i broke the water speed record getting back to shore.. i gave up surfing, sold my board and wet suit the next week
and no, I've always been very careful in my recklessness.
