have you ever had a vague, not really alarming symptom last so long, you start to be alarmed? I've had a cough for a month. Not constant, not deep. Just a light cough. Why won't it go away?

it seems like a dumb thing to go to the doctor for, but I guess I will have to soon.

this actually goes away for hours at a time, then comes back and bothers me again for a bit. Not keeping me up at night, not really painful or deep. But the fact that it just holds on and never gets better

A persistent cough can be nothing but it can be a sign of something. Honestly I think you should go to a Doctor.

If it is allergies you can get meds and it will put your mind at ease. If it is nothing you will feel better too. on the remote chance it is something else your Dr can help. I would go

Allergies are particularly bad this year. My kid had that cough and it was post nasal drip from allergies. Just an eensy bit of irritation. Drove us crazy.

Could be allergies. Could also be reflux, which (weirdly) causes persistent coughing — do you get heartburn? Does it have a pattern of showing up after mealtimes?
