近日感受到學習新語言的挫折感：開學後法文的依媚兒、文件、短訊如雪片般的湧進，有時接到法文腔很重的電話，雖然內容是英文，但也很不好意思的要求對方重複："Sorry, can you repeat that?" 有種當新移民的錯愕，和那被當傻瓜的陰影若隱若現。
我開始想像，原來必須站在孩子身後要求孩子翻譯會是如何的尷尬。也開始了解，原來願意想要能夠融入、溝通、理解而去可以學習、練習一個語言，這背後原來夾藏了那麼多的情感。
突然想起家母那時候上ESL（English as Second Language) ，記得她當時學英文和應用俚語認真的模樣，一陣感動由心而生。
